Member Associations
The Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists in BC is composed of these 11 associations that, in addition to member services, also provide voluntary self-regulation.
Many counselling therapists whose clinical practice focuses on particular populations, psychological issues, and practice modalities are also represented at the FACTBC table. Among others, art therapists, dance therapists, drama therapists, hypnotherapists, and music therapists are active members of FACTBC member associations. It is more common than not for counselling therapists to belong to multiple associations, one for their particular area of practice, and another for general practice standards and regulation.
At the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists we are proud of our mission: ‘To cooperatively support excellence in competency-based counselling’.
ACCT is committed to ensuring competency for all counsellors, taking into account education, skills, and clinical experience. ACCT is committed to helping forge the future of the counselling landscape in Canada through its active participation with The Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists in British Columbia (FACTBC).
ACCT was formed in August 2013 and is dedicated to protecting public access to safe, first-class counselling services, modelling association transparency, promoting an ethical counselling profession across Canada, and building a community of mutual support, counsellor to counsellor, with our Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC) and Registered Counselling Supervisors (RCS).
