Protection of the Public is our Primary Goal

Regulating Counselling Therapists in BC

At present, there is no government-authorized body to ensure that those claiming to be counsellors and psychotherapists in British Columbia have the competencies and the accountability needed to make their services safe and effective.

Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists in BC (FACTBC) represents 11 professional counselling therapy associations that service British Columbians of all ages and support the diverse mental health needs of citizens of this province. Our vision is to see the public protected through the regulation of counselling therapists in British Columbia.

Regulating counselling therapists is not a new idea — Across Canada and the United States counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists are regulated.
